Felony Offender Registries
Sexual Offender Registry
The Tennessee Sexual Offender and Violent Sexual Offender Registration, Verification, and Tracking Act of 2004 was established in T.C.A. 40-39-201 et. seq. and became effective August 1, 2004. All persons who meet the definition of sexual offender or violent sexual offender and live, work or attend school in Tennessee must register with the appropriate agency as defined by law. An amendment to the law in 2007 added a requirement that ALL persons who have a conviction, no matter when it occurred, for an offense that is included in the Sexual Offender Law must register with their local law enforcement. This includes individuals who live, work, or attend school in Tennessee who have a conviction in another state. The General Assembly also moved the names and photographs of offenders that were previously available only to law enforcement to the website the public can view.
Sexual Offenders are required to report their status once a year unless there is a change in residence, employment, or school attended. Changes should be reported immediately to the agency where they are registered. The same requirement applies to Violent Sexual Offenders except they are required to report their status each quarter.
The Bradley County Sheriff’s Office conducts Sexual Offender Registrations for the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation. Offenders that need to report their status or make a change in their record should call the Criminal Investigations Division to schedule an appointment. The number is 423-728-7337.

Meth Offender Registry
This registry was created by Public Chapter 18 of the 2005 General Assembly, the Meth-Free Tennessee Act of 2005. Tennessee Code Annotated Sec. 39-17-436 now requires the registry of any person convicted after March 30, 2005 of a meth-related violation of TCA 39-17-417 (manufacture of methamphetamine) or 39-17-435 (initiation of methamphetamine manufacture). At this time, the TBI will only register persons convicted of a substantive violation of either statute; persons convicted on conspiracy, attempt, and facilitation charges related to the above statutes will not be registered.
