Steve Lawson

Chief Deputy
John Stone

Chief Deputy John Stone is a lifelong Bradley County resident who began his law enforcement career in 1997 with the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office as a Patrol Deputy.  During his extensive 28-year service with BCSO, Stone has held the ranks of Deputy, Detective, Detective Sergeant, Lieutenant, Patrol Captain, and was the Criminal Investigations Captain at the time of appointment to Chief Deputy in April 2022.  He also served on the SWAT Team for nearly 23 years, including 14 years as the SWAT Team Commander.  Stone has completed well over 2,000 hours of specialized training with an emphasis in leadership, tactical operations, and investigations.  He is a 2014 graduate of the FBI National Academy, 257th Session, in Quantico, Virginia.

Captain of Patrol Division
Jon Collins

Captain Jon Collins is a seasoned law enforcement professional with over 30 years of service, currently leading the Patrol Division. Throughout his distinguished career, he has served with both the Bradley County Sheriff's Office and the Cleveland Police Department, where he specialized as a traffic crash investigator. Captain Collins has held leadership roles in every division of the Sheriff’s Office, including Captain of the Training Division, Captain of Support Services, Jail Administrator for the Corrections Division, and Director of Budget and Finance. He holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice administration, has earned numerous certifications in law enforcement leadership and is a graduate of the prestigious 242nd Session of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia. He is also a graduate of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga Southeastern Command and Leadership Academy.

Captain of Criminal Investigations Division
David Shoemaker

Captain David Shoemaker is a seasoned law enforcement professional with 27 years of experience, beginning his career with the Bradley County Sheriff's Office in 1998. Before being promoted to Captain of the Criminal Investigations Division, he served in various roles, including Patrol Deputy, Drug Unit Investigator, Property Crimes Detective, and Person Crimes Detective, advancing through the ranks to Detective Sergeant and Lieutenant. Captain Shoemaker holds a BA in Business Management from Liberty University. He is also a graduate of the SELA Class of 2017 and the TLEEDS program, Class of 2023. Prior to joining BCSO, he graduated from the 168th class of the Atlanta Police Academy and served as a Patrol Officer with the Atlanta Police Department from 1998 to 2004. During his time in Atlanta, he was also assigned to the Auto Theft Task Force.

Jail Administrator
Christi Walls

Jail Administrator Christi Walls is a dedicated corrections professional with 17 years of experience. Before assuming her current role as Jail Administrator of the Corrections Division, she served in various positions, including Corrections Officer, Sergeant, Lieutenant, Senior Lieutenant, and Workhouse Superintendent. She is a 2016 graduate of the Southeastern Leadership Academy, Christi has also earned numerous Tennessee Corrections Institute training certificates throughout her career.

Captain of Judicial Services Division   
Bill Dyer

Captain Bill Dyer is a distinguished law enforcement professional with 39 years of experience across numerous areas, including corrections, corporate security, and law enforcement leadership. Rising through the ranks from Corporal to Chief Deputy, he has honed his expertise in law enforcement administration. Currently serving as the Captain of the Judicial Services Division, he oversees the Court Security Division, as well as the Civil Process and Criminal Warrants Divisions. Captain Dyer holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice Administration and a Master of Business Administration degree, with a concentration in Public Administration. He is a graduate of the prestigious FBI National Academy (Class 226) and the FBI Law Enforcement Executive Development Program (Class 56) at Quantico, Virginia, as well as the University of Tennessee Southeastern Command and Leadership Academy (Class 3). Captain Dyer brings a wealth of knowledge and strategic leadership to his role within the sheriff’s office.

Captain of Support Services Division
Gabe Thomas

Captain Gabe Thomas leads the Support Services Division, which encompasses programs such as the evidence lab, handgun carry classes, Citizen's Academy, litter program, Neighborhood Watch, and more. With 27 years of service at the Bradley County Sheriff's Office. Captain Thomas has held various leadership roles within both the Corrections and Patrol Divisions. He also holds numerous certifications in leadership and law enforcement administration.

Director of Finance
Cassandra Stone

Director Cassandra Stone oversees the Finance Department with over 21 years of service at the Bradley County Sheriff's Office (BCSO). She has a strong background in financial studies, supported by both her collegiate education and professional training. Since the start of her career, Director Stone has focused on managing finances, gaining extensive experience in this critical area.

Director of Administration
Lewis Jones

Director Lewis Jones is a seasoned law enforcement professional with 39 years of experience, having served with the Cleveland Police Department, Bradley County Sheriff's Office (BCSO), and the State of Tennessee. He holds a degree in Criminal Justice and has completed extensive training and certifications in law enforcement and investigation techniques. Currently, Director Jones oversees building and fleet maintenance for the agency, ensuring the operational efficiency of both facilities and vehicles. In addition to his managerial duties, he is actively involved in Human Resources, overseeing the hiring, background checks, and interviewing of prospective employees.

Director of Communications and Technology
Dewayne Scoggins

Director Dewayne Scoggins is a 37-year veteran of Law Enforcement.  Prior to serving as Director of Communications and Technology where he was appointed in 2018, he spent 20 years as a Criminal Investigator primarily with the Person Crimes Division of the Bradley County Sheriff's Office.  He has held various leadership positions within the criminal investigations division and also worked for the Cleveland Police Department as a criminal investigator.  Director Scoggins also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management.  He is responsible for the Information Technology Unit, TIBRS, Grants, Internal Affairs, Office of Public Information, and is the agency Polygraph Examiner.
